Teaching Assistant

Lark Skola is looking for a Teacher’s Assistant to join our community of dedicated and passionate educators.  We are a not-for-profit independent elementary school with a downtown Whitefish campus and a forest campus in Haskill Basin.  The position is full time and pay is competitive.  

The assistant teacher is responsible for assisting in the supervision, education and support of the students to help them accomplish learning benchmarks. Duties can include assisting in the planning of lessons that target specific skills and concepts, managing classroom behavior to keep all students engaged in the lesson and providing individual support and feedback for their students.  Our educational philosophy is built upon four pillars: community, self, nature, and school and therefore learning will occur out in our community and in nature just as much as in the classroom.

Primary Functions: 

  • Ability to form and maintain healthy working relationships with teachers, director, and administrators

  • Must conduct themselves in a professional manner with fellow teachers, students, director, administrator, and board of directors

  • Implementation of the Teacher’s lesson plans and maintenance of daily classroom schedules

  • Supporting each child’s social, emotional and intellectual growth and development

  • Ensuring the wellbeing and safety of children at all times

  • Using a variety of instructional and assessment strategies, as directed by the Teacher, to meet individual student needs

  • Assisting students with assignments or difficult concepts

  • Maintaining communication with the Teacher regarding the progress of students

  • Must be comfortable working in an outdoor environment and a non-traditional classroom year round

  • Must be physically able to guide students on short hikes or activities outdoors

Qualifications

  • High School graduate 

  • Teaching experience in programs for young children preferred

  • Child/Infant CPR certified or obtain certification within six months of employment

  • Child/Infant First Aid certified or obtain certification within six months of employment.

  • Ability to pass a background check

  • Access to a working vehicle and ability to drive to school on weekdays
