Substitute Teacher                                         

The Substitute Teaching position supports the instructional staff team of The Skola through direct facilitation and support while staff members are away from the classroom. 

Our school values both inquiry and direct instructional teaching approaches.  Embedding social-emotional learning, nature-based learning, authentic project work, and meaningful connection to community and environment are pillars of our model. The ideal candidate is passionate about innovative education and creating engaging learning experiences that balance academic rigor with student agency and joy.

Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum

• Follow lesson plans provided by classroom teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience

• Collaboratively implement rigorous, standards-aligned instruction, often working alongside other teaching staff and specialists

• Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners and individualized growth.

• Integrate nature-based and place-based learning into daily instruction.

Classroom Culture & Outdoor Learning

• Cultivate a safe, inclusive, joyful, and academically engaging classroom environment.

• Foster curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and respect for the natural world.

• Comfortably participate in outdoor learning, hikes, and nature-based activities throughout all seasons.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required

• Montana teaching license (or eligibility) preferred.

• Experience with project-based, inquiry-based, experiential, or progressive education models.

• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

• Comfort teaching outdoors in a variety of conditions.

Aftercare Assistant

The aftercare assistant supports students from 3:30 - 5pm. This includes planning and prepping games and activities for students ages pre-k - 5th grade.
